Reservations / Cancellations: What is pre-authorisation?
A pre-authorisation is a bank transaction that we use to check that your credit card is valid and guarantee your booking. During this transaction, a specific amount is temporarily reserved in your account, reducing your available credit without any money being debited.

These funds are reserved for a period determined by your bank, often from 7 to 14 days. If you cancel your booking or pay by another means, the pre-authorisation expires and the funds become available again. Pre-authorisation is used to cover any additional costs during your stay, such as room service or damage.

When you check out, the actual costs are charged and the pre-authorisation is either waived or converted into a payment depending on the amount due. This ensures that the necessary funds will be available without immediate withdrawal.
Reservations / Cancellations: Is there a tourist tax?
